Two Individuals Accused In Connection With Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.
A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were later discharged.
This event – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
