Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
After the deaths, public figures shared different responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and implied they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have stepped in when the decision to speak on the death was made.
