Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Problems.

'Major setback' for England after Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer further complicated England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his hamstring post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

Team management indicated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time away from the action to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat among just a trio of English batsmen to get into double digits.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he resumed on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a variation to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match having missed the Adelaide game.
