President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor told the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
