Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
