Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry game that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and mayhem with similar excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two creators whose projects have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by having a fresh setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of people through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
